TOBACCO DISEASES

Heart disease
Smoking can cause blockages and narrowing of the arteries, which means less blood flow and oxygen flow to the heart.
Stroke
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is temporarily blocked. The brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die.
Diabetes
The risk of developing type 2 diabetes is 30 to 40 percent higher for smokers than for non-smokers. Smoking also increases the risk of complications, once diagnosed with diabetes.
Macular degeneration
Macular degeneration related to age is caused by smoking. It is the leading cause of blindness in adults 65 years of age or older. Infertility Smoking can cause ectopic pregnancy in women (it occurs when a fertilized egg is implanted in a different place in the uterus).
Other cancers
We know that smoking causes at least a dozen types of cancer, including liver and colorectal cancers, and reduces survival rates for patients with prostate cancer.
